| Stacy Balavender, Retail Manager |
I started my culinary career busing tables at a busy seafood restaurant at the age of 15. Before graduating high school, I had worked my way up to a prep cook and decided I would attend culinary school at Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, SC. I graduated with honors and an Associates Degree in 1995 and a hunger to do great things. My quest for knowledge and experience has taken me all over the culinary world. I have worked in every facet of restaurants, owned a catering business, ran a summer camp kitchen, and even worked as a chef and counselor for a residential treatment facility for teenage girls for 4 years. Having spent some time working in skilled nursing facilities as well, lead me to working for a client of Sodexo. The manager there recognized my potential and suggested I contact the HR director for Sodexo. I joined Sodexo as a Reserve Manager in the Senior Services Division in 2006. I transitioned to Corporate Services as a Chef Manager in 2008, and joined Campus Services as a Retail Manager in 2010. I love what I do and look forward to continuing to make everyday a better day for the students and faculty of WCSU. |
